  • A Story of Love

    Happy Valentines Day!

So, its that time of year again where millions of chocolates, candy hearts, flowers, teddy bears, etc. are given to the ones that we love. As I was driving home from school today, I heard this song by Matthew West. So the story behind this is, I think it was last week... KLOVE held a contest for the next greatest love song. Basically, thousands of couples sent in their love stories to be shared and hopefully be chosen as the "Grand Prize Winner." The prize? A song, custom written by Matthew West. How cool is that? So, I think it was last Friday, I heard this story that I thought was really cute. (yeah, I said cute... so what?) Anyways, I said to myself, "Self, I think this couple should win." And to my surprise, they did! So I guess I'll share with you their story, also on KLOVE's website along w/ a link to the song if you want to hear it here: http://klove.com/promodetails.aspx?i=3577

    The story:
My husband (Daniel) and I were neighbors growing up. We were the three musketeers, Michael (my brother), Daniel and me!

Daniel was in love with me from the start! His mother remembers him coming home from Elementary School (2nd grade) and telling her he was going to marry me! I wasn't attracted to him in that way. He was my best friend!! He was always there for me through everything! Even through the hurt of seeing me with other boyfriends or seeing my heartache after breakups, he never once made me feel bad about not choosing him or telling me I wouldn't be hurting if I were with him! He gave me space as he patiently waited for me!!

Finally after being patient for many years, we started dating in High School! He gave me a ring and proposed to me when he was 17! We had never been with anyone and promised to save ourselves for each other!! We went through Elementary, Junior High, High School and College together.

After we graduated from college, we married! We have been married for almost 6 years and we have a son who will be 2 in March! My husband is still there for me through everything and is a wonderful father! He works hard to make sure that me and our son are safe and secure!

God has been good to us!!! How wonderful it is to share your past, present and future with your best friend!!!

    God bless,
    Laura Terro

Haha, so something funny came to mind while I was reading it for the second time. The first thought that came to my mind was, "DANG, since second grade? That's a long time." You know when your parents say, "Ohhh you're too young, blah blah blah." (referring to dating/"going out" which is basically, bf/gf status) After reading this, it's like- ha! so it can be done. Nahh, I'm not condoning this... but hey, it can happen right? Anyways, thought I'd share that with you guys since its Valentines Day. Hope you liked it. And whether you have a valentine today or not, remember that God loves you always and forever.

    God Bless

  • Citizen Soldier

So, last Friday I went to the movie theater to watch "I Am Legend." While sitting down, waiting for the movie to start, those darned commercials/previews started to play right? Right. So while waiting impatiently for the feature presentation, this one commercial really captured my attention. It was a song by 3 Doors Down for the National Guard. Now, when we think of the National Guard, we usually think of those people who help when disasters occur (or at least, that's me). But while I was watching, the combination of the song/video really struck me. So yeah, I guess what I want to say is, remember and pray for our troops. Whether they be in the Navy, Army, Air Force, Coast Guard, National Guard, etc., they're putting their lives on the line for our freedom and they're sacrificing their Christmas so that we can celebrate our own with our families. While you open up your many gifts, take a moment to pray for our brothers and sisters in arms.

*Fun Fact- Founded nearly 400 years ago, the Army National Guard is America's first and oldest militia.

    Lyrics:
Beyond the boundries of your city's lights.
Stand the heroes waiting for your cries.
So many times you did not bring this on yourself.
When the moment finally comes, I'll be there to help.

On that day, when you need your brothers and sisters to care.
    I'll be right here.

    Citizen soldiers.
Holding the light for the ones that we guide from the dark of despair.
Standing on guard for the ones that we've sheltered.
We'll always be ready because we will always be there.

When there's people crying in the streets.
When they're starving for a meal to eat.
When they simply need a place to make their beds.
Right here underneath my wing, you can rest your head.

On that day, when you need your brothers and sisters to care.
    I'll be right here.

    Citizen soldiers.
Holding the light for the ones that we guide from the dark of despair.
Standing on guard for the ones that we've sheltered.
We'll always be ready because we will always be there.

Hope and pray, that you never need me.
The rest assured I will not let you down.
I walk beside you, but you may not see me.
The strongest among you may not wear a crown.

On the day when you need your brothers and sisters to care.
    I'll be right here.
On that day when you don't have strength for the burning you bear.
    I'll be right here.

    Citizen soldiers.
Holding the light for the ones that we guide from the dark of despair.
Standing on guard for the ones that we've sheltered.
We'll always be ready because we will always be there.

    Merry Christmas Everyone!
